HUGH Sexey Middle School's history organisation The Old Sexonians and past pupil Jenny Wylde made a special visit to see her great-step uncle's name added to the school's Roll of Honour.

John, known to friends and family as Jack, was a volunteer in the RAF and for the bomber command.

Unfortunately the Lancaster bomber that John was crewing was shot down in the Second World War and John died.

His name was missed off the Roll of Honour, possibly because he had moved away from the Wedmore area and had no close family members.

Prayers were said by the Roll of Honour to dedicate John’s name and this was followed by a special school assembly when Mrs Wylde presented pupils with books and DVDs about life in bomber command during the war.
