SCHOOLCHILDREN from Wedmore are set to hit the red carpet in London after being nominated for a prestigious film award.
The short film by the Year 3 pupils from Wedmore First School, called When I Close My Eyes, will be judged by Harry Potter director David Yates and Harry Brown actress Emily Mortimer at the Odeon in Leicester Square on March 15.
The pupils’ film, which is an emotional and surreal journey based around dreams, is up against films from schools in Edinburgh, Nottingham and the West Midlands.
Teacher Matthew Maisey said: “It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the children putting the film together with the help of the people who helped them, and it was a pleasant surprise to find that we’d been nominated for the award.”
