A WESTON school is a ‘welcoming, pleasant and very safe place to work and learn’ – according to Government inspectors.
The Ofsted report for Baytree Special School says that pupils make good progress in their personal and social development and that the youngest children are doing particularly well at the Highlands Lane site in Locking Castle.
It has been a difficult period for the school, following the death in December of popular headteacher Phil McKinnie.
Following the inspection, Baytree School has been recognised as improving.
Ofsted judged the school to be providing a satisfactory standard of education with good features.
They also acknowledged the sensitive management of the deputy headteacher, Andrew Knight, in leading the school.
Fiona Richings, the new headteacher who joined the school in September, said: “Our pupils, whatever their disability or special educational needs, make satisfactory progress and we have work to do to ensure best practice is embedded across our school.
“Baytree School has enthusiastic pupils, a fantastic staff team and supportive parents, carers and governors.”
