The Arosfa Hotel in Lower Church Road has been bought by Weston College to provide teaching spaces and student bedrooms.

The building was stripped of its furniture in February.

Since then, contractor HPS has fixed the roof, and the windows have been removed and will be replaced with sash windows.

The internal walls are being removed and replaced so the hallways and entrances are all compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act.

The staircases and lift are also being replaced to fit health and safety regulations, and work is underway to strengthen the walls and floors.

The college will also be using the Winter Gardens for the academy, which it says will provide vocational routes into employment.

It has estimated the work at the Arosfa will cost £2.8million,
