Awards evening held for University Centre Weston students

The achievements of ‘inspiring’ University Centre Weston students were celebrated at an awards evening.

A ceremony was held in the Winter Gardens Pavilion, in Royal Parade, where prizes were handed out to students who have gone above and beyond to contribute to student life.

Applied computing student Bradley Cousins was named overall higher education student of the year.

And long-serving science technician Peter Murray was awarded the prize for outstanding contribution to the student experience after 30 years of working for the Weston College Group.

The group’s principal and chief executive, Dr Paul Phillips, praised the quality on offer.

He said: “Picking the winners from so many inspiring stories of academic excellence and personal triumph was no easy task.

“We put our students at the centre of everything we do, so I was delighted to celebrate so many wonderful achievements.”
