Family fun was enjoyed at the Oldmixon Family Centre’s Painting Party in Weston-super-Mare on Thursday.

The event took place from 10am until noon on Thursday and 46 children up to the age of eight took part in a morning of painting, dressing up and getting involved with activities.

Avon and Somerset police cadets and PCSO’s attended, offering children the chance to play with CSI fingerprinting equipment.

Weston Library was also there to get kids involved with its summer reading challenge, and children can take out books at the centre’s access point.

A spokesman for the centre said: “It was really busy and we had some lovely comments from parents and grandparents about how well the day went, with one 7-year-old boy writing ‘wow’ and ‘cool’ on one of our feedback cards.

“We would also like to thank Weston’s Tesco for donating apples, oranges and bananas on the day.”
