YEAR five Sandford Primary School pupil William Honour stepped up to the plate to take on the role of headteacher for one day.

At the end of the last school year a charity auction was held in aid of Children With Cancer and William’s mother Ann bid £30 for him to become headteacher for a day.

William met parents on the playground and supervised children as they went into assembly.

He carried out lesson observations, provided teachers with feedback and pleased all of his fellow pupils by extending playtime and cancelling homework.

After his day he said: “I’ve been really busy, but I love being in charge.”
