PUPILS at Winscombe Primary School celebrated the Hindu festival of Diwali by dressing in colourful traditional costumes.

The event, also known as the festival of lights, is celebrated as one of the most important events in the religion’s calendar and celebrates the victory of good over evil.

As well as dressing up in traditional Indian dress, the youngsters also watched a shadow puppet show which told them the tale of Rama and Sita, and their return to his kingdom after fourteen years of exile.
