LOCKING Primary School pupils and their parents and grandparents have been getting stuck in to a new scheme to ease congestion issues in the village.

Locking Parish Council has lent the use of its field off Old Banwell Road to create a car park, as part of the school’s park and stride scheme to encourage youngsters to walk in every morning.

It is hoped the scheme will ease congestion issues around the school in Meadow Drive, and pupils and their relatives have been spreading clean-stone gravel around the car park to repair it.

Headteacher Joanne Jones said: “The idea is to encourage children to walk or scoot into school other by having their parents drop them off at the school gates.”
