A WOMAN who has lived in North Somerset for her entire life has reached an impressive landmark – her 100th birthday.

Eileen May Galloway, from Wrington, celebrated her century on May 2 at St Anthony’s Court nursing home in Bristol Road Lower, Weston.

Eileen, the eldest of five siblings, is also a mother-of-two and grandmother of four.

Yatton church was lit up to celebrate her milestone.

Eileen’s daughter, Anne Galloway, said: “I always knew she had a strong constitution.

“We are amazed in one way but we are not surprised because of the way she lived her life. Family is her main focus and always has been.

“We want to thank the staff, residents and their relatives at the nursing home for making her day special, and to the carers for their continuing wonderful care.”
