THE people of Winscombe in North Somerset were encouraged to gather up their old computers, fridges, hairdryers and kettles when the village held a free electrical recycling event last Thursday.

Hundreds of old items recycled at the community centre car park and the North Somerset waste team were on hand to collect the redundant electrical objects.

Any useful components will be recycled, cutting down on landfill, and saving money for the council.

The event was hosted by Winscombe Thursday Market, the weekly village event where residents also stocked up on groceries and books.
