A LARGE motocross event could be launched for Weston in the winter season.RHL Activities, which organises the Enduro Beach Race, wants to set up the event on the beach this winter and is meeting the authorities later in the month to discuss its proposals.Corporate manager Philip Regan, a former North Somerset Council events officer, said: "We are working with the council to bring motocross to Weston in February 2007."Hopefully it will be a weekend-long event, provisionally booked for February 10 and 11. The Saturday would be a kids' day with races for six to 16-year-olds and Sunday would be for adult riders."We want a five year plan to bring a club level meeting to Weston at first, with 150-250 riders. Hopefully a championship round would follow which would bring more riders and top class riders and a bigger race infrastructure. "We will see how a club level race works and what support we get and go from there."A challenging track with jumps would built, probably south of the Tropicana, a few days before and there would be 15 minute races from 11am-4pm."The motocross would be in addition to the Enduro which takes place each autumn.
