AN ENGLAND sports star will be at a leisure centre next month to help people try their hand at an unusual sport.

Gobi Ranganathan, para-badminton player for England, will be at an event for a charity which offers support to people with spinal injuries.

Shine (Spina bifida Hydrocephalis Information Networking Equality) is putting on a boccia evening.

The Paralympic sport sees players roll a ball closer to a white marker than their opponent – similar to bowls.

The event, on June 22 from 4-6pm at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre in Weston, is open to adults and children to take part.

It will also be an opportunity to meet other spina bifida or hydrocephalis sufferers.
