Estate agent 'really encouraged'

A Weston estate agent has added his voice to those heralding an upturn in the town's property market.

In recent weeks, the Mercury has reported how house-builders and agents believe the long-term slump which has affected Britain’s housing market is coming to an end.

This week, Chris Bloxham, director of High Street-based Bloxham and Barlow, told the Mercury the firm has reported its best month’s sales figures since May 2007.

Mr Bloxham said: “We have been really encouraged by the level of sales we have been able to achieve.

“As the sales were being agreed we started to look back at our records to see when such high levels had previously been achieved. We have had some excellent properties coming onto the market and our vendors have been realistic with their asking prices. The beginning of September has also seen this trend continue, and let’s hope for some more good months ahead.”
