FORMER allotment land on the Bournville estate could be sold off to make way for housing under plans agreed by Weston Town Council. The land off Coleridge Road has been unused as allotments for several years and Government permission has been granted for the land to be disposed of.Weston Town Council agreed at a meeting on Monday (Jan 22) to market the land to developers. There will be the option of buying the land with or without planning consent and the price obtained will vary accordingly.Councillor Mike Bell said: "The sale of this land could raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for council coffers and help us to fund improvements to play areas and allotment sites across Weston. "We'll be making sure that we get the best return for taxpayers and the best benefit for the community." It is hoped that any development will also see the provision of a community garden the For All Healthy Living Centre in Lonsdale Avenue.
