Ewan McGregor in Somerset village's Hollywood blockbuster

SCENES of a Somerset village have shown up in trailer for a new Hollywood blockbuster starring Ewan McGregor and Bill Nighy.
Jack The Giant Killer, a modern-day mythical fairy-tale, was partly filmed in Cheddar Gorge, with reported sightings of several star cast members there last autumn.
But the scenes have been so altered by CGI effects that it is hard to tell if the shots are actually of Cheddar.
Bob Smart, chairman of Somerset Tourism Association, said: “It’s guesswork really. I’ve been trying to make some common sense deductions, and it looks like it could have been digitally altered.
“But why come to Cheddar at all if you are going to alter it so much that you can’t tell it is here?.
He said: “Cheddar is a magical, mystical, mythical place to come to. The gorge has to be allowed to stand on its own merits. You can get a pretty good film out of the gorge.”
He described Somerset as ‘the flavour of the month’ with film makers for its spectacular landscapes and competitive rates.
The 3D film, from New Line Cinema and Warner Brothers, will be released this summer.
