A RETIRED mining engineer from the Mendip Hills will showcase an entirely different skill at the end of this month when he brings out his first book.
New author Jon Gliddon will release novel Break In Communication in November.
The book is a spy thriller inspired by the political intrigue at the heart of World War Two.
Described as ‘appeal(ing) to fans of espionage, 007, films such as The 39 Steps, The Imitation Game and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’ it tells the stories of Colonel Julian Bonham-Jones and Home Guard sergeant Bert Chenoweth as they fight to prevent a ruthless Nazi agent infiltrating the South West of England.
After an early interest in poetry, the book is Mr Gliddon’s – who is from the village of Blagdon – first foray into fiction writing and the realisation of a lifelong dream.
The beautiful location, amazing history and key strategic nature of the Telegraph Station in World War One and World War Two were the catalysts for Jon’s novel.
