Alex Lipinski has been building a growing legion of fans in recent years, with regular performance slots around the town and further afield winning him some celebrity fans.

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher is a convert, as is Fun Lovin’ Criminal and DJ Huey Morgan, while another Oasis musician, guitarist Bonehead, has become a collaborator.

However, the 28-year-old’s following is sure to grow even more with the release of Lonely Kid, a song which was played at UK football grounds at the weekend, thanks in part to an unusual video cameo.

Former Aston Villa boss John Gregory takes a small role in a video which was short largely in Weston.

Gregory became a fan of Alex’s after discovering his music online, while the former Priory Community School pupil and Weston College student Alex is a keen Villa supporter.

The pair have since bonded, and Alex – whose love of music began when his parents and older siblings played Beatles and Elvis records as he was growing up – said: “I asked him if he fancied being in the new music video and he was up for it so we managed to fit him in.”

The single release follows a busy two years for Alex, which has seen him play a number of major festivals and shows in Los Angeles and Italy.

Tom Robinson of BBC6 Music, has described Alex’s music as being ‘played and sung with such vigour and conviction it just sweeps you up and carries you along’.

The good news for fans is that tomorrow’s single release will be followed by other new material. Recording of a new album is under way in Berlin, and scheduled for a spring release.
