PARENTS at a Weston school are calling for a special school to be set up to deal with troublesome youngsters after a pupil was found with a fake gun.The 13-year-old boy was caught showing off the BB gun that he found in the toilets of Priory Community School.Parents say this is the latest in a string of serious incidents and disruptive pupils should be taught in a special school. One parent, who wished not to be named, said: "Children are only being excluded for a few days and then are allowed back again."This kind of behaviour is going on all the time and I know teachers are getting fed up with it and are appalled."These children should be taken outside of mainstream education and put in special schools to give the well behaved children a chance to learn."Priory headteacher Ron Richards said the gun was not illegal and was not in working order. He said: "It was reported to me that a pupil had found a fake gun in the school and it was taken from him. The boy should have handed the gun in to a teacher as we take incidents like this very seriously."The call comes after North Somerset Council revealed there had been 990 exclusions from schools since September.Last week, the Weston & Somerset Mercury reported that all these exclusions were for violent and threatening behaviour by pupils. But a spokesman for North Somerset Council said: "The figure refers to the total number of pupil exclusions since September for a variety of reasons such as missing detentions, flouting school rules and disrupting lessons."The majority of these are for fixed periods of time and there have only been ten permanent exclusions this academic year.
