The family of a 15-year-old girl who died in Weston-super-Mare last Tuesday have paid tribute to their ‘beautiful daughter’.

Evie Wright was hit by a train on the Corondale Road crossing, near Weston Milton station.

In a statement, her family said: “Our beautiful 15-year-old daughter, Evie Alicia Wright, sadly lost her life after being struck by a train on Tuesday March 6.

“This is a devastating time for our family and we ask that our privacy is respected and people are sensitive as to what is being posted on social media.

“We appreciate all of the flowers, cards and gifts you have all left for Evie.

“We would like you to know your kind notes have comforted us at this sad time.”

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called to reports of an incident at the Corondale Road crossing at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.

“A 15-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene, her family have been informed and are being supported by our family liaison officers.

“Her death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter has been referred to the coroner.”
