A LANGFORD woman and three members of her family will take part in a fund-raising walk in memory of her father.

Joanne Stickley, her sister-in-law Kerena Stickley, mother Wendy Bentley and her father's partner Abigail Jones will be walking the Mercury Midnight Beach Walk, sponsored by the Weston and Somerset Mercury to raise money for Weston Hospicecare.

They will join hundreds of other women taking part in the five mile on September 15.

The charity, based at Jackston Barstow House in Uphill, provides care for those people suffering from life threatening illnesses.

Joanne, aged 35, said: "My dad was cared for at the hospice earlier this year and it was such a relief to go there after being in a hospital.

"I had no previous experience of hospices and what they do and didn't realise how much of a support they can be to families.

"I am taking part in the walk as I want to do something to help them raise money to keep going and help other families get through such difficult times."

The beach walk is a women-only event, which goes from Uphill to Marine Lake and back.
