Three generations of a Weston family will be taking part in a memory marathon to remember Jeanette Eastman who died of cancer almost three years ago.
Marcus Eastman, who is in his 80s, his son Steve, aged 56, and his grandson Garry, aged 30, are raising money for Weston Hospicecare to say thank you for the support it gave to Marcus’ wife Jeanette.
Steve and Garry will be pushing Marcus round the 26-mile route in a wheelchair and their marathon will begin at the hospice in Uphill at 7.40am tomorrow (Wednesday).
They will stop at venues along the way which hold special memories for the family including Weston Football Club, The Commodore Hotel and Nashley House residential home where a party will be held for residents and supporters.
The family is hoping to raise £3,000 from the event by holding numerous activities along the way including parties and raffles.
Marcus and Steve have put on a number of parties, car boot sales, skittle matches and events for the hospice and have raised almost £7,000 in memory of Jeanette so far.
Marcus, who was recently named Community Champion for his fundraising efforts, is inviting people to them on the last five miles back to the hospice, calling at the Grand Pier.
