Day-trippers and Westonians alike made the most of last weekend’s glorious sunshine by enjoying some live music in aid of a good cause on the town’s seafront.

Sea shanty band The Barnacle Buoys performed outside crumbling Birnbeck Pier on Sunday afternoon to raise money for the Birnbeck Regeneration Trust, which is working to restore the pier.

A spokesman for the Trust said: “Thanks to the Barnacle Buoys for supporting Birnbeck Pier with a packed sea front.

“It was fantastic weather and another great event.”

The North Somerset-based band describes itself as a group of a capella singers which performs across the South West in aid of a range of different charities.

A statement on its website said: “We exist to enjoy our craft, entertain our audiences and raise money for our chosen charities.

“We give our time freely and in return have a great time – we hope our audiences do too.”
