THREE taxi fare dodgers have been caught by police after accidently leaving a mobile phone in the back of the cab.
The trio caught a taxi to Congresbury in the early hours of Sunday morning but ran off before paying the fare.
However they were rounded up within three hours after the police used the phone to track them.
Weston taxi driver Jeremy Brookes praised PC Paul Johnson for the way he handled the case.
Mr Brookes said: “He was absolutely brilliant. I called 101 and he arrived within three minutes. He obviously has great local knowledge as when I told him where I’d dropped the lads, he knew there was an alleyway leading to a housing estate there, and his suspicions that the suspects might live there turned out to be true.”
