YOUNGSTERS are finding it easy to play on railway lines running through a village because gates are being carelessly left open.Farmers are being blamed for children getting easy access to level crossings over the railway line through Yatton.Farmers regularly use the crossings to drive tractors into nearby fields but often leave the gates open, which acts as an invitation for children in the village to explore the high-speed lines.Train drivers have also complained that leaving the gates open also interferes with signals on the line, because it appears there could be vehicles on the line. There were four recorded incidents of youngsters sneaking onto the lines in June and they were also caught throwing stones at the trains.Route crime officer Clive Davies said: "We are pretty sure it is the farmers leaving the gates open but we could be wrong."This usually happens during the summer but it has happened at lot more this year. It seems to increase each year."The children will play chicken with the trains and try to dodge them when they go over the crossings.
