BUMPER crowds turned out in defiance of soggy weather forecasts to enjoy a popular village fete on Sunday.

Brent Knoll was a hive of activity as families enjoyed a feast of fun, with stalls, games, displays and entertainment on offer.

Chris Burman, headteacher at Brent Knoll Primary School, officially opened the fete, and young dancers from the same school entertained spectators with a traditional Maypole dance.

The Chalice Morris Men and the U3A Ukelele Band added to the fun of the occasion with expert performances, too.

Thankfully for those who did brave the gloomy predictions, the rain held off and the visitors were able to stay dry as they enjoyed some barbecued treats or a taste of the Brent Knoll-brewed Westcroft Cider.
