Festival drama as crews called to tackle blaze at leisure park

A village, which is hosting an annual festival throughout the week, experienced some unwanted drama after a fire broke out in a burger van last night (Saturday).

Fire crews from Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater were called to Brean Leisure Park at around 9.20pm last night after a burger van, which was catering for thousands of people at the Brean Country and Western Festival, caught fire next to the Brean Play building.

There were concerns the fire would spread to the multi-million pound buildings next to it but crews acted quickly to the ‘well alight’ blaze.

After the fire was brought under control, crews confirmed the fire was accidental due to an electrical fault in the van’s freezer.

No-one was injured during the incident.
