A FOOTBALL-MAD Weston man celebrated his golden wedding anniversary by thanking his wife for a 'wonderful 50 seasons'.

Wolves fan Mick Wright and wife Val marked the occasion on January 23 and are going to go on a Caribbean cruise soon after.

The couple, of Compton Drive, in Weston Village, have six grandchildren and say they consider themselves privileged to have been married to one another for such a long time.

Val, aged 68, said: "I think I deserve a medal for being patient with him and his football all these years, but we've been very lucky with life and love."

Before heading to the crunch Premier League fixture with Wigan, Mick, aged 70, said: "We have been lucky in health, lucky with one another and I'd like to thank her for a wonderful 50 seasons.
