Film crews have been spotted around Weston today (Wednesday), and the Mercury understands they are shooting a drama film.

There are several crew vehicles stationed at Locking Road Car Park which is the base of the operation.

The old police station, in Walliscote Road, is one of the filming locations and film crews have also been seen near Morrisons.

A crew member was seen wearing a uniform for Italy-based production company Mestiere Cinema, which makes films, TV shows and documentaries.

North Somerset Council confirmed the crew was only in town for today, but declined to share any further details about the production.

A member of security staff said the film is in its third day of seven-week production and 60 crew members are involved – with the cast filming in Bristol tomorrow.

Mercury reporter Sam Frost was not allowed on site to speak to production staff about what was being filmed and the cast.
