ONE of Weston’s best-loved rock bands are finally hanging up their guitars after 21 years in the business.
The Accelerators, who originally formed in 1989, are set to play their final fanfare at the town’s Cove Restaurant on March 5.
The band are best known for their song Christmas is a Pain in the A***, which has been played on BBC Radio Two and radio station across the USA, as well as TV soap Emmerdale.
Singer and bassist Mike Charles said: “Another highlight was getting booked to play at the wedding of Peter Gabriel’s PA. Genesis were one of our biggest influences, so it was a big surprise to find out he was in the audience watching us.
“I’ll miss the fun of playing live gigs, and the response we got from the audiences, but we think it’s time to call it a day.”
The bands final appearance is free, but only with tickets available from www.theaccelerators.co.uk
