RESTAURANTS, take-aways and cafes in North Somerset will all be given a star rating for food hygiene.
Every food premises will be inspected and rated at how well it complies with legal requirements and cleanliness.
The top rating will show the outlet complies fully with food hygiene regulations.
Somerset Food Scores has been created jointly between North Somerset, West Somerset, Mendip, Taunton Deane and Sedgemoor councils.
The results of inspections, due to take place over the next 18 months, will be published on the North Somerset Council website.
Councillor Carl Francis Pester, executive member for environment, said: "This is a system that allows customers and clients to see just how well their school, hospital, favourite sandwich bar or special occasion restaurant really complies with current standards.
