FIREFIGHTERS were called to a play park last night (Friday) after a fire was deliberately started by some new play equipment.

Crews were called to the park, near Market Street, Highbridge, at around 8.20pm.

A spokesman from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call reporting a fire under some new play equipment.

“A fire appliance from Burnham-on-Sea was mobilised.

“The fire was deliberate ignition. Firefighters extinguished the fire and left the scene safe.”
