Fire crews are tackling a blaze at a Weston-super-Mare quarry.
The fire started in an industrial unit at the quarry in Lower Kewstoke Road just after noon today (Thursday).
Police and fire crews from across the region are currently at the scene.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed six firefighting crews are battling the blaze with a high-pressure hose.
The public has been warned to avoid the area and the incident is on-going.
Firefighters have been able to account for all people at the scene.
A fire service spokesman said: “The fire has spread to numerous scrap vehicles and smoke is affecting the area.
“Please close all windows and doors in the area.
“Due to the location of the fire and a large quantity of scrap and rubbish that is alright by the quarry wall, the incident is likely to continue for some time.”
Avon Fire and Rescue put out a tweet at 4.23pm saying the fire has now been extinguished.
It spread to 30 scrap vehicles and 24 firefighters from Weston, Yatton, Avonmouth, Pill and Bedminster fire stations were called to the incident.
Two high-pressure hose reels and 75 litres of foam were used to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters are still at the scene monitoring the situation with thermal imaging.
Lower Kewstoke Road is expected to remain closed for several hours while the incident is dealt with.
The fire is thought to have been caused accidentally.
