FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue a 30-year-old horse after it was stuck in a ditch overnight.

Three fire engines from Avon Fire and Rescue attended an incident in Maysgreen Lane, in Hewish, at 11.18am yesterday (Tuesday).

They managed to place a strap around the horse and it was pulled from the ditch.

A spokesman said: “It had been in the water-filled ditch overnight.

“The horse was left in the care of a vet but it is hoped that the horse will make a full recovery.”
