Fire crews from across the South West were called to help tackle a fire in a Somerset village this morning (Tuesday).

A derelict thatched roof property caught fire in Brent Street in Brent Knoll and appliances from Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Cheddar, Bridgwater and Yeovil were all needed to help.

Firefighters used a compressed air foam jet to tackle the blaze and by 10.45am crews had scaled the incident down, and are using just three appliances.

Crews have now left the scene after damping the property down using a water monitor from the hydraulic platform.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
