Firefighter free horse from ditch

A STRANDED horse had to be freed from a muddy ditch by firefighters in Wedmore this morning (Mon).

At about 9am they were called to Lands End Farm to reports of the animal stuck in mud in a field ditch.

One crew from Cheddar, one from Burnham and a specialist rescue team from Bridgwater attended the scene, where a vet had sedated the horse.

The firefighters were able to place ropes around the animal and pulled it free before handing back into the care of its owner.
