Firefighters extinguish 20-ton hay blaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called to an airfield yesterday (Thurs) to reports of 20 tons of hay on fire.

One crew from Weston arrived at Weston Airfield, off Locking Moor Road, at 5.40pm and found the hay well alight.

One of the firefighters wore breathing apparatus and, the crew used two pressure hose reels and one jet reel to extinguish the fire.

A spokesman from Avon Fire and Rescue said the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
