Firefighters remain on the scene of a large barn fire which started shortly before midnight last night (Thursday).
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called to an agricultural building fire in Crickham, Wedmore, at 11.57pm yesterday.
A five metre by 10 metre barn containing hay was well alight by the time crews from Cheddar, Burnham-on-Sea, Wells and Bridgwater arrived.
A spokesman from the fire service said crews used hose reel jets and compressed air foam jets to tackle the fire throughout the night.
The spokesman added: “Crews are remaining on the scene to keep an eye on the building.
“Firefighters are pulling apart the hay to allow it to burn, as hay burns for quite some time. There is potential of a roof collapse so crews are remaining on scene.”
