FIRE crews have this afternoon put out a fire at a flat in Weston.

Avon Fire and Rescue were called at around 11.44am this morning to the ground-floor flat in Drove Road after reports of a fire.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and a high pressure hose reel put out the blaze.

Firefighters rescued a cat, called Lucky, from the building.

The police and fire service are investigating the cause of the fire.
