A town centre firm has landed a £20million contract with top telecommunications company NTL.Future People Recruitment, which opened its new offices in the Boulevard this week, is creating around 40 jobs thanks to the deal.Owner Jason Smith bought a warehouse site in Oldmixon Crescent on Tuesday to open as the national distribution centre for NTL.Mr Smith expects the centre to be up and running by July 1.He said: "It's the biggest contract we've ever landed."We looked at putting distribution warehouses at several locations around the country but decided we would centralise it all here in Weston where our headquarters is now based."The move means Future will provide and run NTL's distribution services. Future staff will collect all television set-top boxes provided by NTL across the UK which need to be repaired or replaced and take them back to the centre in Weston where they will be repackaged and sent to NTL's refurbishment centres. It is estimated 20,000 boxes will pass through Weston a month.NTL is an international company which provides cable television, internet and telephone services across the UK.Mr Smith, aged 35, added: "The business will benefit the local economy, not just because of creating jobs but we also intend to use local companies for vans and other vehicles and all the back office related staff will be based here as well."Future People Recruitment closed offices in London, Liverpool, Scotland, Birmingham and Bristol to centralise the entire company in Weston's Boulevard. The two-storey former Weston Decorators building now houses the growing business which employs commercial, industrial and technical staff as well as providing project management services for major companies like Telewest, Virgin and BskyB as well as NTL.Future's headquarters will have an official opening on June 16 with visits by Weston's MP John Penrose and mayor Councillor Paula Howell.
