BUSINESS representatives from across North Somerset attended a party at Weston Hospicecare on Monday to mark the launch of the charity’s latest fundraising campaign.

The Nifty Fifty campaign will pit businesses against one another to see which one can generate the biggest profit from a starting figure of £50. Each participant is given 50 days to use the money however they want, with all proceeds going directly to Weston Hospicecare.

The launch party, which took place in the charity’s grounds in Thornbury Road, Uphill, gave representatives the chance to network and share ideas.

John Fry, a Hospicecare volunteer and former Sainsbury’s employee, said: “Nifty Fifty involves so many different people from all walks of life. I think people will put their hearts and souls into it.”

A spokesman for the hospice said: “To bring so many current and future supporters into the hospice was a delight.

“We are confident of a great Nifty Fifty campaign and we have four spaces left.”
