GOLDFISH are to be evicted from a village pond over fears they will destroy other wildlife. There are two theories about how the fish ended up in Tim's Well, a former shepherd's pool in Blagdon. It is thought the three goldfish, nicknamed Huey, Duey and Louie, may have been placed in the pond by a prankster as long as three years ago or it may have been someone getting rid of them because they were moving house. The parish council has asked for volunteers to adopt the goldfish as they are concerned about the impact on existing pond life such as frogs and newts. Parish clerk Dave Woolley said: "There is a public concern that the goldfish will eat frog spawn which could have an impact on wildlife."At a parish council meeting this month councillors decided to ask members of the public if they would find a new home for the fish.Mr Woolley added: "If a home cannot be found then they could be introduced into Blagdon Lake where there are plenty of large pike.
