A CHARITY, which aims to improve the lives of elderly people across Somerset, is to increase its health programme to help more people to improve their fitness.

Next month, Age UK Somerset will resume its ageing well programme both in Weston and Worle.

Tai chi classes will be held at Worle’s Martindale Court in Martindale Road on Fridays at 10.30am. The session will cost £4 to enter.

And a weekly stand, sit, move, balance class will take place at Weston’s Longton Grove Surgery in Locking Road.

It will also be held on Fridays, from 11.30am-12.30pm, and will cost £3.50 to take part in.

The two classes, designed for people over the age of 60, will begin on September 5.

A charity spokesman said the sessions are suitable for people of all abilities and in the past have even helped patients trying to recover following cancer treatment.

Healthwatch has confirmed it will take on the running of North Somerset’s senior community links from the charity, as it looks to increase its elderly healthcare provision.
