POLICE arrested five people yesterday (Thursday) in Weston as part of an operation to seize suspected cannabis.
Officers confiscated the suspected cannabis from an address in Alma Street, as well as drugs paraphernalia and a quantity of cash.
Of the five arrested, two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs, and remain in custody. A 15-year-old boy and 55-year-old man were both bailed to be questioned today.
Neighbourhood Manager Sharon Bennett said: “This is part of an ongoing operation which shows that we are relentless on drug dealing in all of its forms.
“We take concerns from residents about drug crime extremely seriously and, following reports from local people, we have been working behind the scenes to gather information that has led to the arrests today.
“I would like to thank local residents for their patience and assistance. Without their help, we would not have been able to take the action that we have done. I would urge them to continue their contact with us to report any suspicious behaviour – however minor.”
