A LOCKING youngster has cemented his reputation as one of the best young tae kwon do competitors in the country after winning at the British Spa Championships for the fifth time in a row.
Daniel O’Leary, of Elm Grove, won his fifth consecutive first place in the point stop sparring category, as well as coming first in the forms and pattern category and second for technique.
The Worle Community School pupil, who is a black belt second dan, said: “I’m proud of myself. I had a lot of support from my instructor. A lot of instructors just stand there and watch, but Ian gets involved and that helped me.”
Daniel’s mum, Anna, said: “We’re extremely proud parents. Especially as he’s just 12 years old, he’s been doing it since he was six years old and now he teaches the younger children as well.”
