Flats evacuated during fire

A BLOCK of flats in Weston was evacuated after a fire took hold one of the top floor properties overnight.

At 12.44am today (Fri), two appliances from Weston fire station attended the scene in Ottawa Road on the Corontaion estate where four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to extinguish the flames.

Severe damage was caused by the fire and one man in his 30s was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

The cause of the fire is now being investigated by police.
