FANS of television antique programmes will be in for a treat when they see a lot valued at £600 sell for more than seven times its estimated price. The Napoleonic French Prisoner of War boxwood model of a 62 gun ship of the line sold for an incredible £4,400.The drama was captured by the BBC's Flog It team which was filming at the auction at Clevedon Salerooms.Clevedon Salerooms spokesman Toby Pinn said: "The vendor's father was a mariner in Bristol and the model had come down through the family,"It was understood to be made by a prisoner of war at Fishponds."The vessel was in a rather poor condition and had a number of pieces missing and the human hair rigging was quite frankly a tangled mess of knots."We received a number of enquiries from the UK and the US all requesting detailed images and in the event two determined bidders, one in the room and one on the telephone pushed the boat out to £4,400. The finished episode will picture a somewhat jaw dropped vendor in a state of shock.
