Flood alert issued for Weston seafront

Weston-super-Mare residents are told to be prepared for possible flooding tonight (Friday).
The Environment Agency (EA) has issued a flood alert for Burnham-on-Sea, and from Uphill to Kingston Seymour.
The EA is reporting ‘high-energy’ waves could cause onshore flooding.
A spokesman said: “Strong onshore winds will cause tide levels to rise further during this evening’s tide, although winds will reduce tomorrow morning.
“Overtopping and onshore flooding may occur as a result of high water levels combined with high energy waves.
“This could also cause sea spray, where strong winds blow water from the crests of waves onshore.”
