Flood alerts issued for Somerset coast

The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for several locations on the Somerset coast this evening (Sunday, September 10).

Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Dunster beaches, Blue Anchor, Steart, Stolford, Brean, Burnham-on-Sea, Uphill and Kingston Seymour are among the locations which could be affected.

A flood alert means that flooding is possible, and residents should be prepared.

The Environment Agency says strong onshore winds and low pressure will cause high sea levels, and that overtopping and onshore flooding may occur, while river levels may also rise.

The high water is forecast for 10.15pm, or 11pm in Clevedon.
