EMERGENCY flood equipment has been unveiled by a parish council.

Cheddar Parish Council has invested in new equipment after preparing a local emergency plan in conjunction with the emergency services and other authorities.

The council has bought new flood warning signs, spades and sandbags.

It unveiled its equipment and new storage shed at Cheddar Fire Station in The Hayes.

The councillors demonstrated how to use the equipment and gave people the chance to have a go at filling the sandbags.

The council has been working on a flood plan following the problems on the Somerset Levels in 2013 and 2014 in case a similar event occurs in Cheddar.
